Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, called for elaborating and implementing the Laws to facilitate Corruption Counteraction and prevent Repressions of the Ordinary People

In the Friday´s interview to Rada television channel, V.Lytvyn commented upon the impediments to the commencement of anti-corruption laws. Thus, V.Lytvyn stated: "The quality of these laws is the main impediment". "Unfortunately, these laws were drafted in imitation of the western legislation, despite the lack of law supremacy and law-enforcement bodies in charge of the law, not political or party interests", - he explained. V.Lytvyn stated that those legislative acts had been adopted on the eve of elections "to attract the voters", the majority of deputies being unfamiliar with the texts of the drafts.

The Head of the Parliament stated that the Laws in question "legalize willfulness of the law-enforcement bodies and the encroachment on the human and civil rights and liberties". "If the laws came into force, corruption would be fought at the expense of the ordinary public", - he stated.
